PhotoGrav 3.2 – Laser Photo Engraving Software
Prepare photographs for laser engraving with material-specific image processing and engraving simulation.
PhotoGrav 3.2 is specialized image-processing software designed to help produce more consistent photographic laser engravings. It prepares photographs for engraving by adjusting image characteristics based on the material you plan to use.
With more than 20 pre-calibrated material profiles, engraving simulation, and adjustable image-processing settings, PhotoGrav helps reduce trial and error when preparing photographs for laser engraving.
PhotoGrav works alongside laser control software such as LightBurn. Process your photograph in PhotoGrav, export the prepared image, and import it into your compatible laser software to complete the engraving.
Features & Benefits
- Material-Specific Processing: Choose from over 20 pre-calibrated profiles for common engraving materials, including wood, acrylic, and metal surfaces.
- Engraving Simulation: Preview an estimated appearance of the finished engraving before running the job.
- Automatic Image Optimization: Apply processing adjustments based on the selected material to help prepare photographs for engraving.
- Interactive Fine-Tuning: Adjust gamma, clipping, contrast-related settings, smoothing, and edge enhancement while reviewing the simulated result.

How PhotoGrav Works
- Import Your Photograph: Open a supported image file in PhotoGrav.
- Select Your Material: Choose a pre-calibrated profile that best matches your engraving surface.
- Set the Image Size: Resize and prepare the photograph for your engraving project.
- Process & Preview: Apply the material-based adjustments and review the engraving simulation. Fine-tune settings as needed.
- Export & Engrave: Save the processed image and import it into your compatible laser control software for engraving.
Software Compatibility
PhotoGrav 3.2 is designed for Windows 11 and has also been tested by the manufacturer on Windows 10. Mac users may be able to run the software through a compatible Windows virtualization environment, such as Parallels, rather than as a native macOS application.
PhotoGrav prepares images for engraving but does not directly operate your laser machine. You'll need compatible laser control software to send the processed image to your equipment.
Important: Engraving simulations are estimates. Final results depend on your laser settings, material characteristics, image quality, and machine calibration. Test engravings may still be necessary.
Licensing & Activation
A standard PhotoGrav 3.2 license supports activation on two computers. Software activation uses a serial number, and online activation and deactivation are supported.
If you're replacing a computer, you can deactivate PhotoGrav on the original system to free an activation for another computer.
The manufacturer also offers a 15-day trial for customers who want to evaluate the software.
