Omron LY2N-J 220/240VAC DPDT Plug-In Relay with LED
The Omron LY2N-J is a general-purpose electrical relay designed for compatible laser machine control circuits and industrial electrical equipment. It features a 220/240VAC operating coil, double-pole, double-throw (DPDT) contact arrangement, and an integrated LED operation indicator.
This relay allows an electrical control signal to activate two independent sets of switching contacts. Its transparent housing makes the internal components visible, while the built-in LED helps technicians identify when the relay coil is energized.
The standard 8-pin plug-in configuration allows convenient installation into a compatible relay socket, making the LY2N-J a practical replacement for equipment requiring this specific voltage and contact arrangement.
Important: Relays with similar appearances may have different coil voltages, contact configurations, or terminal arrangements. Verify your existing relay specifications before ordering.

How the Relay Works
The LY2N-J uses an electromagnetic coil to switch two independent electrical circuits. When the specified AC voltage is applied to the coil, its internal mechanism changes the position of both contact sets.
Each contact set contains three connections:
- Common (COM): The shared terminal for the switching circuit.
- Normally Closed (NC): Connected to common when the relay coil is not energized.
- Normally Open (NO): Connected to common when the relay coil is energized.
When coil power is removed, the contacts return to their normal positions. The LED indicator helps identify when power is being applied to the relay coil.
Note: An illuminated LED does not guarantee that the relay contacts have switched correctly. Contact operation should be checked separately during troubleshooting.
Compatibility
This relay is intended for compatible laser machines and industrial control systems requiring a 220/240VAC coil, DPDT contact arrangement, and matching 8-pin socket configuration.
The LY2N series supports compatible relay sockets, including appropriate PTF08A-series socket configurations. Socket compatibility and wiring should be verified before installation.
Before ordering, compare the replacement with your existing relay:
- Manufacturer and complete model number
- 220/240VAC coil voltage and operating frequency
- DPDT contact arrangement
- 8-pin terminal configuration
- Contact ratings for the connected electrical load
- Relay dimensions and socket compatibility
- Terminal wiring diagram and indicator requirements
Important: A 24VDC or 110/120VAC relay is not interchangeable with this 220/240VAC model simply because it has the same appearance and terminal arrangement.
This relay's 10A carry-current rating does not mean every type of electrical load can safely be switched at 10 amps. Motor loads, inductive equipment, and circuits with high startup current may require lower switching ratings.
Installation & Safety
- Disconnect the laser machine from electrical power before inspecting or replacing the relay.
- Verify that the existing control circuit supplies the correct AC coil voltage.
- Check the relay socket for corrosion, loose terminals, overheating, or other visible damage.
- Compare the replacement relay's terminal diagram with the original component.
- Align the relay pins with the socket before installation. Do not force the relay into place.
- Verify correct operation of the relay and connected equipment after replacement.
- If the relay repeatedly fails, overheats, or chatters, troubleshoot the connected electrical circuit before replacing it again.
Safety Note: The 220/240VAC control circuits associated with this relay can present a serious electrical shock hazard. Installation and troubleshooting should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with electrical control systems.
Never bypass machine safety interlocks or protective electrical circuits when installing a replacement relay.
