Momentary Foot Pedal Power Switch – 120V, 15A
This momentary foot pedal power switch provides hands-free electrical control for compatible 120V equipment. Designed for applications requiring temporary power activation, the pedal allows an operator to control a connected device using foot pressure.
Unlike a low-voltage control pedal, this foot switch features a built-in, three-slot grounded receptacle for connecting compatible electrical equipment. Its textured pedal surface provides secure foot contact, while the approximately 7-foot power cord offers flexibility in workstation placement.
The compact black housing includes mounting tabs for positioning the pedal at a suitable workstation location.
Important: This is an electrical power-switching pedal, not a dedicated laser controller or emergency stop device. Verify the electrical ratings, switching behavior, and equipment requirements before use.
Key Features

How Momentary Power Switching Works
A momentary power switch is intended to change its electrical switching state only while pressure is applied.
In a normally open, press-to-activate configuration:
- Pedal Released: The switched power connection remains open.
- Pedal Pressed: The switch closes and supplies power to the connected device.
- Pedal Released Again: The switch returns to its resting position and interrupts the switched connection.
The exact switching behavior should be verified before connecting equipment. A momentary electrical switch is not the same as a maintained ON/OFF switch.
Important: Removing power from a device does not guarantee that moving components will stop immediately. Equipment may continue moving due to stored energy or mechanical momentum.
Applications & Compatibility
This foot-operated switch is intended for compatible electrical equipment designed to operate through momentary AC power switching.
Potential applications include:
- Compatible workshop equipment
- Foot-operated electrical accessories
- Equipment requiring temporary power activation
- Industrial or hobby workstations with approved foot-switch applications
- Replacement of an existing pedal with matching specifications
Laser Machine Compatibility: This pedal should not be assumed compatible with a CO2 or fiber laser simply because the machine uses a 120V power connection.
Laser systems may require continuous electrical power for their controllers, cooling systems, exhaust equipment, and safety components. Interrupting the machine's main power supply during operation can create unsafe conditions or damage equipment.
For laser processing or marking activation, use the dedicated foot-switch input or approved controller connection specified by the machine manufacturer.
Before ordering, verify:
- Equipment operating voltage and current
- Startup and inrush current requirements
- Required momentary switching behavior
- Grounded plug and receptacle compatibility
- Whether external power switching is permitted
- Electrical safety requirements for the intended application
Installation & Safety
- Verify the electrical rating marked on the actual foot switch before use.
- Use only with compatible equipment and properly grounded electrical connections.
- Do not exceed the switch's voltage, current, or applicable load rating.
- Confirm that momentary power interruption will not create a hazardous machine condition.
- Keep the power cord away from moving equipment, sharp edges, heat, and pinch points.
- Position the pedal where accidental operation is unlikely.
- Inspect the housing, cord, receptacle, and connections before use.
- Do not use the pedal if the cord or electrical housing is damaged.
- Do not modify the switch or bypass equipment safety controls.
Safety Note: This foot pedal is not an emergency stop device or a substitute for required safety interlocks. It must not be used to interrupt power to laser cooling systems or other equipment that requires continuous operation during processing.
Electrical suitability depends on the connected device, including its startup current and operating characteristics. A 15A marking alone does not establish compatibility with every 15A load.
