Mini Foot Pedal – TFS-1 Momentary Foot Switch

The TFS-1 Mini Foot Pedal provides hands-free electrical switching for compatible laser machines, industrial equipment, and control systems. Its momentary operation allows users to activate a connected control circuit by pressing the pedal and return the switch to its resting position when released.

Designed with a compact metal housing and textured, non-slip pedal surface, this foot switch provides a convenient way to operate equipment without occupying your hands.

The TFS-1 features a single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) contact arrangement with normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) connections. This allows the switch to be used in different control arrangements when properly wired.

Important: This pedal is a momentary electrical switch, not a complete laser controller or emergency stop device. The response of a connected machine depends on its controller, wiring, and configuration.

Key Features

  • Momentary Operation: Switch contacts change state while the pedal is pressed and return when released.
  • Hands-Free Control: Operate a compatible control circuit using foot pressure.
  • SPDT Contacts: Features one normally open and one normally closed contact arrangement.
  • Metal Housing: Durable iron construction for workshop and industrial applications.
  • Non-Slip Pedal: Textured foot surface provides improved grip during operation.
  • Pre-Wired Cable: Equipped with an approximately 1-meter cable for connection to a compatible control circuit.
  • Compact Design: Small footprint makes it convenient for workstations where space is limited.
  • Replacement Component: Suitable for replacing a matching foot switch with verified electrical specifications.

Understanding Momentary Operation

Unlike a maintained ON/OFF switch, a momentary foot pedal automatically returns to its normal position when foot pressure is removed.

With a standard SPDT contact arrangement:

  • Pedal Released: The common contact connects to the normally closed (NC) terminal.
  • Pedal Pressed: The common contact switches to the normally open (NO) terminal.
  • Pedal Released Again: The contacts return to their original state.

This switching action allows the pedal to send a temporary electrical signal to a compatible control system.

Note: On some equipment, a momentary signal may start an automated process that continues after the pedal is released. Do not assume releasing the pedal will immediately stop laser operation or machine movement.

Applications & Compatibility

The TFS-1 foot switch may be used with compatible electrical control systems requiring momentary foot-operated input.

Potential applications include:

  • Compatible laser machine control inputs
  • Industrial equipment with foot-switch activation
  • Electrical control panels
  • Workshop machinery requiring momentary switching
  • Custom control circuits designed for SPDT operation

Compatibility Notice: Not every CO2 or fiber laser machine supports direct foot-pedal operation. Some systems require a dedicated input, specific wiring, or controller configuration.

Before ordering, verify:

  • Whether your equipment supports an external foot switch
  • Required momentary or maintained switching action
  • Normally open and normally closed contact requirements
  • Electrical voltage and current requirements
  • Cable connections and terminal arrangement
  • Controller input configuration

A matching pedal shape does not guarantee electrical compatibility. Always compare the original switch specifications with your equipment requirements.

Installation & Safety

  • Disconnect electrical power before installing or replacing the foot switch.
  • Verify contact assignments and continuity before making electrical connections.
  • Use the equipment manufacturer's approved foot-switch wiring and configuration instructions.
  • Confirm that the connected electrical load is within the switch's rated capacity.
  • Keep the cable away from moving machinery, sharp edges, and pinch points.
  • Position the pedal where accidental activation is unlikely.
  • Test the switching function and machine response before returning the equipment to normal operation.
  • Have electrical connections completed by a qualified person familiar with the equipment.

Safety Note: This foot switch must not be used as a substitute for a dedicated emergency stop, safety interlock, or other required machine protection device. Do not connect it directly into a machine's mains power cord unless such installation is specifically designed, rated, and approved for the equipment.
