DZ47-63 C20 20A 2-Pole DIN Rail Circuit Breaker – 400V AC

The DZ47-63 C20 miniature circuit breaker is a two-pole electrical protection device designed for compatible laser machines and electrical control systems. Rated at 20 amps with a Type C trip curve, it provides protection against overloads and short circuits.

Its linked two-pole design allows both poles to disconnect together when the breaker trips or is switched off. This makes it suitable for electrical circuits requiring two-pole protection and disconnection.

The breaker features a compact housing, four screw terminals, a linked ON/OFF operating handle, and a standard DIN-rail mounting configuration for installation in compatible electrical cabinets.

Whether replacing a damaged breaker or servicing an existing laser machine, the DZ47-63 C20 provides overcurrent protection when correctly selected and installed.

Important: Circuit breakers must be selected according to the equipment's electrical requirements. Matching the amperage and physical appearance alone does not guarantee compatibility.

Key Features

  • 20A Rated Current: Designed for appropriately protected electrical circuits requiring a 20-amp breaker.
  • Two-Pole Design: Linked operation provides simultaneous disconnection of both poles.
  • Type C Trip Curve: Allows brief startup current in compatible equipment while maintaining overload and short-circuit protection.
  • Overload Protection: Trips when excessive current persists beyond the breaker's operating limits.
  • Short-Circuit Protection: Responds to qualifying high-current faults to interrupt the electrical circuit.
  • Manual ON/OFF Operation: Linked operating handle allows manual switching and resetting after a fault has been corrected.
  • DIN-Rail Mounting: Designed for installation on a compatible 35mm DIN rail.
  • Screw Terminal Connections: Four electrical terminals for connecting the protected circuit.
  • Compact Housing: Suitable for compatible electrical cabinets and control enclosures.
  • Replacement Component: Intended for equipment requiring matching electrical protection characteristics.

Understanding the C20 Rating

The C20 designation identifies two important electrical characteristics of the circuit breaker.

20A Rated Current: The number 20 indicates that the breaker is rated for 20 amps. This rating must be appropriate for the connected wiring and equipment.

Type C Trip Curve: The letter C identifies the breaker's instantaneous trip characteristic. Type C breakers generally operate their magnetic trip mechanism at approximately 5 to 10 times their rated current.

This characteristic can accommodate brief startup current from compatible motors, transformers, and other electrical equipment while still responding to qualifying short circuits.

Important: The Type C designation does not mean a circuit can continuously operate above the breaker's 20A rating. Proper circuit sizing and overload protection requirements still apply.

Two-Pole Circuit Protection

Unlike a single-pole breaker, this two-pole model features two mechanically linked switching poles.

When the breaker trips, both poles are designed to disconnect together. The linked handle also allows both poles to be switched manually.

This configuration is used in appropriately designed circuits requiring simultaneous disconnection of two conductors.

Note: This is a miniature circuit breaker designed for overcurrent protection. It is not a residual-current circuit breaker and does not provide dedicated ground-fault or leakage-current detection.

Compatibility

The DZ47-63 C20 is intended for compatible laser machines and electrical control systems requiring a 20A, Type C, two-pole miniature circuit breaker with appropriate voltage and short-circuit ratings.

Before ordering, compare the replacement breaker with the original component:

  • Manufacturer and model number
  • 20A rated current
  • Type C trip characteristic
  • Two-pole configuration
  • Rated operating voltage
  • Short-circuit breaking capacity marked on the breaker
  • Terminal arrangement and wiring requirements
  • Physical dimensions and available mounting space
  • DIN-rail mounting compatibility
  • Equipment and applicable electrical-code requirements

Important: DZ47-63 breakers are available from different manufacturers and with different electrical ratings. Identical model-family markings do not necessarily mean two breakers are interchangeable.

Do not substitute a breaker with a higher amperage rating, lower breaking capacity, or different trip characteristic without verification by a qualified electrical professional.

Installation & Safety

  • Installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified electrician familiar with the equipment.
  • Disconnect and isolate the electrical supply before accessing the machine's electrical cabinet.
  • Verify that the affected circuits are de-energized with appropriate testing equipment.
  • Confirm the replacement breaker's current rating, voltage, trip curve, breaking capacity, and pole configuration.
  • Secure the breaker to a compatible DIN rail according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Connect all conductors according to the terminal markings, electrical diagrams, and equipment requirements.
  • Use appropriately sized conductors and the specified terminal tightening torque.
  • Inspect the wiring and connections before restoring electrical power.
  • After installation, complete the required electrical safety and functional checks before returning the machine to service.

Safety Note: If the replacement breaker trips repeatedly, do not continue resetting it. The circuit may have an overload, short circuit, damaged wiring, faulty electrical component, or another condition requiring diagnosis.

A circuit breaker must never be bypassed or modified to prevent it from tripping. Correct circuit protection is essential to safe equipment operation.
