CJX2-1210 Main Power Contactor – 220VAC Coil
This CJX2-1210 main power contactor is an electromagnetic switching component designed for compatible CO2 laser engraving and cutting machines, industrial control panels, and electrical equipment.
Featuring a 220VAC operating coil, this contactor allows an electrical control signal to switch connected power circuits. When the coil is energized, its internal electromagnetic mechanism closes the normally open main contacts, allowing power to flow to the connected equipment.
The CJX2-1210 features three main switching poles and one normally open auxiliary contact. Its compact housing and DIN-rail mounting design make it suitable for installation inside compatible machine electrical cabinets.
This replacement component is intended for equipment requiring a matching CJX2-1210 contactor with the correct coil voltage, contact ratings, terminal arrangement, and mounting dimensions.
Important: The 220VAC designation refers to the contactor's operating coil, not necessarily the voltage of the circuit being switched. Confirm all electrical ratings before installation.

How the Main Power Contactor Works
An electromagnetic contactor allows a control circuit to operate separate electrical power circuits without requiring the control switch itself to carry the connected load current.
When the correct AC voltage is applied across the contactor's coil terminals, the electromagnetic mechanism pulls the internal contacts into their operated position.
- Coil De-Energized: The normally open main contacts remain open, interrupting their respective circuits.
- Coil Energized: The main contacts close, allowing current to flow through the connected circuits.
- Control Signal Removed: The internal mechanism returns the contacts to their normal open positions.
In a properly designed machine control system, the contactor may be used to switch power to connected electrical components or equipment sections.
The auxiliary contact can provide an additional switching signal for compatible machine control or monitoring circuits.
Important: A contactor is an electrically operated switch. It does not independently provide overload or short-circuit protection. Appropriate circuit protection must be provided separately.
Understanding Coil Voltage & Contact Ratings
The contactor's 220VAC coil voltage identifies the electrical supply required to operate its internal electromagnetic mechanism.
This is separate from the voltage and current ratings of the main switching contacts.
Contactors may be rated differently depending on the type of electrical load being switched. These classifications include:
- AC-1: Primarily resistive or slightly inductive loads.
- AC-3: Common motor-switching applications involving normal starting and stopping.
- AC-4: More demanding motor-switching applications involving frequent starting, reversing, or similar operating conditions.
The CJX2-1210 series is commonly specified with a 12A AC-3 operational current rating at 380VAC. However, the exact allowable load depends on the specific contactor, operating voltage, electrical load, and manufacturer's ratings.
Important: Do not select a replacement contactor based on coil voltage or model appearance alone. The contactor must also meet the switching requirements of the connected equipment.
Compatibility
This CJX2-1210 contactor is intended for compatible laser machines and electrical control systems requiring a matching 220VAC coil contactor with a three-pole main contact arrangement.
Before ordering, compare the replacement with your original contactor:
- Manufacturer and model number
- 220VAC coil voltage and operating frequency
- Main contact arrangement and number of poles
- Auxiliary contact configuration
- Rated operational voltage and current
- AC-1, AC-3, or AC-4 load requirements
- Terminal markings and wiring arrangement
- DIN-rail mounting compatibility
- Physical dimensions and available cabinet clearance
- Connected machine components and electrical load requirements
Important: Contactors that appear nearly identical may use different coil voltages, contact ratings, and auxiliary contact arrangements.
A 220VAC coil contactor is not automatically interchangeable with a 110VAC, 24VDC, or other coil-voltage version. Always match the original component and machine electrical requirements.
Frequency Notice: The photographed contactor appears to carry a 220V 50Hz coil marking. Some contactors are approved for both 50Hz and 60Hz operation, but this must be verified for the specific unit before using it on a 60Hz electrical supply.
Installation & Safety
- Disconnect and isolate the machine from its electrical supply before inspecting or replacing the contactor.
- Verify that all affected electrical circuits are de-energized before beginning work.
- Compare the replacement contactor's coil voltage, frequency, and contact ratings with the original component.
- Install the contactor securely on the appropriate DIN rail or approved mounting arrangement.
- Connect wiring according to the contactor's terminal markings and the machine's electrical diagram.
- Inspect terminal connections for loose wires, damaged insulation, and signs of overheating.
- Confirm that the connected electrical load does not exceed the contactor's applicable ratings.
- After installation, test the control circuit and verify proper contactor operation before returning the machine to service.
Safety Note: Electrical contactors may control hazardous voltages and equipment capable of unexpected movement or operation. Installation should be performed by someone qualified to work on industrial electrical control systems.
A failed contactor can be a symptom of another electrical problem. If a replacement contactor chatters, overheats, fails to activate, or repeatedly fails, inspect the coil supply, connected loads, wiring, and control circuit rather than continuing to replace components.
Never bypass machine safety interlocks or protective electrical devices when troubleshooting contactor operation.
