3DM783 3-Phase Stepper Motor Driver
The 3DM783 Digital Stepper Motor Driver provides precise, adjustable motion control for compatible three-phase stepper motors used in CO2 laser engraving and cutting machines, CNC equipment, and industrial motion-control systems.
Operating on 24–70V DC, this driver uses digital signal processing (DSP) technology to deliver smooth motor movement, reduce vibration, and improve positioning performance. Adjustable output current, microstepping resolution, and automatic motor parameter setup make it a practical replacement for compatible three-phase motion systems.
Key Features
- Three-Phase Motor Control: Designed for compatible three-phase stepper motors and motion-control systems.
- Adjustable Output Current: Eight selectable peak-current settings ranging from 2.10A to 8.40A.
- Microstepping Control: Sixteen selectable pulse resolutions from 400 to 51,200 pulses per revolution through DIP switches.
- DSP-Based Technology: Digital motion control helps reduce resonance and improve motor movement.
- Automatic Motor Setup: Supports motor self-test and automatic parameter configuration.
- Torque Compensation: Helps maintain motor performance at medium and higher operating speeds.
- Multiple Control Modes: Supports Pulse/Direction and CW/CCW signal operation.
- Standstill Current Control: Selectable reduced or full holding current when the motor is stopped.
- Built-In Protection: Provides overcurrent, overvoltage, and undervoltage protection.

DIP Switch Configuration
The 3DM783 features eight DIP switches for selecting motor output current, standstill current, and microstepping resolution.
- SW1–SW3: Select one of eight motor-current settings using the current chart printed on the driver.
- SW4: OFF selects reduced standstill current; ON selects full standstill current.
- SW5–SW8: Select one of sixteen available pulse-per-revolution resolutions.
Additional parameters can be configured through the supported HISU serial configuration interface. This requires compatible configuration equipment.
When replacing an existing driver, record the original wiring and DIP switch settings before removal. Motor current and resolution settings must match the connected motor and machine controller.
Compatibility
The 3DM783 is intended for compatible three-phase stepper motor systems used in CO2 laser engraving and cutting machines, CNC equipment, and industrial motion-control applications.
Before ordering, compare your existing driver's model number, input voltage, output-current ratings, control-signal requirements, motor wiring, and mounting dimensions.
Important: This is a three-phase motor driver. It is not a direct replacement for a two-phase bipolar driver without confirming compatibility with the motor, controller, and electrical system.
Installation & Setup
- Disconnect machine power and allow stored electrical energy to discharge before servicing.
- Photograph and label the original driver wiring and DIP switch positions before removal.
- Verify DC input polarity and the U, V, and W motor connections.
- Confirm the controller's input-signal voltage and control mode.
- Set the output current and microstepping resolution to match the connected motor and controller.
- Mount the driver securely and provide adequate ventilation.
- Never connect or disconnect motor wiring while the driver is powered.
- Test motor operation and axis travel at reduced speed before returning the machine to normal operation.
Troubleshooting
Common symptoms of stepper driver or motion-control problems include an axis that fails to move, motor vibration, missed steps, positioning errors, unusual operating noise, or an illuminated fault indicator.
These symptoms do not always indicate a failed driver. Incorrect configuration, loose wiring, motor faults, power-supply problems, and mechanical binding can produce similar results.
